Set in Stone

September 17th, 2009 § 0

For thursdays we reserve the Idioms. Those expressions with a fixed meaning.

The first of them is: “Set in Stone”. We can use it when we are talking about something hard to move, but no a chair a table or a car. It’s referred to norms, law, rules, conventions, mother’s orders and stuff like this.

A rule is set in stone when you can’t break it.
