Adquire habits

September 12th, 2009 § 0

Hi,

A few days ago, I read a post entitled “The Jerry Seinfeld’s method for forming habits” at thinkwasabi (a spanish blog about Apple, tech and productivity).

This method is simple and effective: decide a habit you want to adquire, then make a huge schedule an place it where you could see it without special effort (like a wall in your office). Each day you successfully achieve your new habit, stamp a X in the schedule.

In other way, when you aren’t able to get de habit done mark the day with a point.

If the schedule is as big as you need, you could check your results at a glance.

There are some tips you may follow:

  1. Try only one habit,
  2. Try with little changes.
  3. Propose concrete and tangible things.
  4. Decide changes you want to do.

After I finished the reading, I thought that this method is a greart tip to improve english. And more than english, of course.

I’m going to make my huge schedule (a few one for english, and others for some business skills), place it in a wall in my office and make the effort to success. One habit I want to work on (is correct this?) is to post here at least twice a week and read english books (I’ve got one by Nick Hornby -A long way down-)

We’ll see, I keep you informed.

Where Am I?
