Learn english: the most important nightmare for 350 million Chinese

September 22nd, 2009 § 0

I read in an online magazine that learning english is the big problem in the big Asia, specifically, in China.

Fuen is a chinese boy. He studies english eight hours a day, seven days a week. His case is not the only one. Million Chinese people, around 350, study english because its knowledge let them obtein the best jobs .

The english schoools are proliferating like mushrooms. They represent the new big business.

In Asia, learning english is very difficult because the differencies between the chinese language and the english language are deep. Despite that China is the leading country in the world sending students to european and american universities to learn english.

In the end, another advantage is their shyness. That´s the reason why there  are methods called “Crazy English” . Those methods consist on a intensive course where students are motivated to lose their shyness.

Out of the Box

This expression is used with the verb THINK.

“Think out the box” is an english version of the spanish expression “pensar creativamente” and it supposed that if you have a problem, for instance, and you are thinking about it and its solutions to solve it, then, you need to think out the box to be creative and to find the best solution.

A Christmas Carol

Vaughan Systems has published a serie of audio-books very interesting to learn english. The pack is formed by four audio-books.

I have purchased two of them: A Christmas Carol and Tales of Casanovas´s Memoirs. Both are fantastic tools to improve the english vocabulary, listening and the pronunciation in english.

My favourite one is, righ now, A Christmas Carol, because the story is so nice, wonderful, full of good intentions and full of important morals of a fable. But on the other hand, this story is too easy to read and understand if you know a bit of english language.

The another one, in my opinion, is more interesting in relation to the vocabulary because this story is more extense and complex and it can give us new concepts and new english words to complete our english vocabulary.

Let´s play with the english language

September 21st, 2009 § 0

This blog is created as a tool to improve our english and to show you different ways to get this objective.

One of my favourite plays which you can copy and practice with your friends consists on the following: the players ought to write three things about theirselfs and only one of them ought to be true and the others players have to guess it. The way to know the true is asking questions whose answers can be “yes” or “not”.

Try it!
